About

Dane Pedersen is a singer, songwriter, and actor from Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. He has performed in a wide range of capacities and settings, from coffeehouse fundraisers to professional theatrical productions.

A recent 2024 Graduate of the Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies at St. Francis Xavier University in Antigonish, where he majored in Vocal studies, Dane is becoming a regular on the Cape Breton and Antigonish music scenes.  However, he still makes appearances on the stage of the Highland Arts Theatre in Sydney, most recently in The Sea Shanty (2024). Lately, he's appeared in the band Moment's Notice , made up of some friends in the St. F.X. Jazz Studies program.

It is obvious to all who hear him that Dane's love for folk music runs deep, and in his own performances he strives to uphold and continue the East Coast tradition of storytelling through song.

June 28-29, 2024: The Sea Shanty Show Encore

Arranged & Music Directed by Chris Mounteer

Directed & Choreographed by Marc Richard

From the musical mind of Chris Mounteer (’Swonderful, Kitchen Party) comes a new musical revue paying tribute to the wonder and majesty of the sea.

What started as a Tik Tok trend has become a worldwide awakening and renewed appreciation for the haunting and harmonious melodies of the sea shanty. Honouring both traditional sailing songs and more recent East Coast songwriters, you’ll gasp in awe at the beautiful harmonies of our local performers in this intimate and breathtaking concert. After a sold-out run in Summer 2021 and a re-imagined encore in 2023, The Sea Shanty Show is back with a beautiful new production directed by Marc Richard ("I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change").
